Classroom Round Ups

Room 1 (Mrs Johnson): Our letterland work for this week is Jumping Jim and words that rhyme with jet. In Maths we are working on numbers that come before or after a given number and adding and taking away small numbers. Our language and art unit this week is about mice.  Children all received pedometers today and we begin to count our steps as part of My Greatest Feat where we learn more about the Soccer World Cup.

Room 4 (Miss Boyd): Hello everyone. Today we will be wearing our pedometers and counting our steps. Each day we will be recording our steps. Please ensure you bring your pedometers back to school each day. For Letterland we continue blend sounds and for maths its building our number knowledge. Enjoy your week.

Room 6 (Mrs Cox): This week we are looking at what information we can get out of reading maps. We are starting to focus on wearable arts and how to make a costume for the Production next term. We are beginning our walk around South Africa as the football (soccer) world cup looms. On top of all of this we will be trying to keep dry in what looks like a wet week ahead.

Room 7 (Miss Entwisle):

Our Spelling Chunk is un and our blend is sc.

In Maths we are looking at Geometry (2-D and 3-D shapes). Our topic work continues to be about being Firewise.

Room 10 (Mrs Brittenden): Kia ora koutou.

We continue to be working hard and making sure we meet given timeframes!

Writing – we focus this week on developing our explanation writing. We need to make sure we have proofread our work and check we have an introduction, detail in our explanation and a conclusion to round off our ideas.

Maths – we are learning to measure distance and time! Problem Solving will be a component of this

Art – we will be continuing to add layers to our paper mache masks.

My Greatest Feat – The Long Walk – we have handed out pedometers and are hoping to complete 1600km via a virtual walk through South Africa. Students need to be wearing their pedometers and taking care of them. First login will be tomorrow.
