1. Photographs

School photographs will be taken on 2 June 2010. Please return the photograph envelopes to the office with the correct amount of money inside and clearly named as soon as possible. Photo envelopes were sent home with your child last week. Please ensure that your child is dressed in the correct school uniform for photograph day.

2. Board Meeting

The first meeting of our new Board will take place on Thursday 27 May 2010 at 7.00pm.

3. PTA Meeting Tonight

Our PTA will be holding its monthly meeting tonight in the staffroom. This is an invitation to all of our parents to come along to the meeting and to get to know other parents and what the PTA does for the students of our school.

4. Sports Teams

We are asking for parent support in the following area.

We have had a number of children withdrawing from sports teams or not arriving for sports matches. We enter the number of teams into the league after an indication from the child and/or the family that they are committing to play for the season. It places the school in a very difficult and embarrassing situation when a child withdraws from a team midway through the season and we don’t have enough players to field a team. It is also very demoralising for the other team members when one of their team mates does not turn up for a match when they are expecting them to and they end up being short of a player for the game.

We have an expectation that if a child has indicated that they will play in a netball or basketball team, they will complete the season, unless injured.

5. Our Greatest Feat

"Our Greatest Feat" starts today. Each child in the school will have received his/her own pedometer to bring home. We will be following the All Whites journey around South Africa until their first game on 15 June. We ask that all pedometers are clearly named. They are clipped onto their shorts or track bottoms and they then record each step taken.

Each child’s name is loaded onto the My Greatest Feat computer site at school by the class teacher and then they have their own code to use to log on to the site in order to keep a tally of the number of steps they will take each day. The codes of the younger children will be kept at school by the teachers and the total number of steps taken loaded at school.

The pedometers will be sent home each day but they must come back to school each day for use during lesson time.

6. Welcome to our new Students

We would like to welcome Cleo McLaren and her parents Denice Taukiri and Ngahina McLaren to our school. Cleo started in Year One today.

7. Kea Kids Club

Kea Kids Club operates from our school hall each day from 3.00pm until 6.00pm each day. Robyn Wilson, one of our parents, manages the Kea Kids Club. If you are requiring after school care for your child please see Robyn at 3 o’clock on any day of the week or phone her on 021 0355 323.

Care is available on a full time, part time or even an hourly rate.

There are Winz subsidies available for those who qualify so please contact Robyn to check if you qualify.

8. Team Energise

Each family will have received a card to place on their fridge at home highlighting various types of drinks that children love to drink. Most of these are sugar laden and are not good for children to be drinking on a regular basis. Please discuss this card with your child and the healthy options available to him/her.

Have a great week with your children.
